Membership Types & Fees

Membership with the IBSC offers the opportunity to connect with dynamic professionals around the world who share a commitment and passion for advancing schools and the learning experiences of boys. Membership Types

Full Member

A fully qualified member enjoys all the rights and privileges of IBSC membership as defined in the by-laws and can serve on the board. According to the by-laws, Full Membership is open to schools that are primarily for boys and have primary and/or secondary school classes.

Associate Member

Associate membership is open to coeducational schools wishing to work with the Coalition for the achievement of its purposes. Associate Members gain all the privileges of membership except the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting and to serve on the board.

Provisional Member

Provisional membership is open to new boys’ schools that charge tuition. Provisional Members gain all the privileges of membership except the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting and to serve on the board. Provisional membership is available to new schools for up to three years as schools become fully established.

Individual Member

Individual membership is open to individuals who wish to work with the Coalition for the achievement of its purposes. This type of membership is designed as a category of membership for persons who are not associated with or employed by schools (or organizations interested in education), such as researchers, scholars, or individuals interested in boys’ education. Individual members gain all the privileges of membership except the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting and to serve on the board.

Corporate Member

Corporate membership is open to corporations, associations, or organizations other than schools that are interested in boys’ education. Corporate Members have access to specific benefits which are listed below.

Annual Membership Fees

Full Members and Associate membership fees are calculated as follows:

Full Member Fees
  • Membership fees for schools that charge tuition are 14% of the annual tuition for one day student (nonboarding student), based on the school's highest tuition. (Some schools charge a different amount of tuition depending on grade level.) Below please note the exception for smaller schools.
  • The membership fee for schools that do not charge tuition is $200 USD. The IBSC is committed to ensuring that public, government, and state schools are able to participate as full members in the organization.
  • Schools with enrollments with fewer than 200 students use the following fees schedule:
    • 150–199 students: Fee equals 10% of one day student's annual tuition.
    • 100–149 students: Fee equals 8% of one day student’s annual tuition.
    • 50–99 students: Fee equals 6% of one day student’s annual tuition.
    • 50 or fewer students: Fee equals 3% of one day student’s annual tuition.
    • The minimum fee is $200 USD.
Associate Member Fees
  • Membership fees for coeducational schools that charge tuition are 7% of the annual tuition for one day student (nonboarding student), based on the school's highest tuition. (Some schools charge a different amount of tuition depending on grade level.) Below please note the exception for smaller schools.
  • The membership fee for coeducational schools that do not charge tuition is $200 USD. The IBSC is committed to ensuring that public, government, and state schools are able to participate as full members in the organization.
Provisional Member Fees
  • 1st year: flat fee of $200.
  • 2nd year: 5% of the annual tuition for one day-student (nonboarding student), based on the school's highest tuition.
  • 3rd year: 10% of the annual tuition for one day-student (nonboarding student), based on the school's highest tuition.
Individual Member Fees

The membership fee for an Individual is only $200 USD. Please note that Individual Membership is designed as a category of for persons not associated with or employed by schools. For instance, researchers, scholars, parents, or individuals interested in boys’ education fall into this special category of membership.

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is open to corporations, associations, or organizations other than schools that are interested in boys’ education. Annual Fees are $1,500 USD. IBSC Corporate Members gain the following benefits.

  • Presence on the IBSC website, including logo, link to company site, and company description on the IBSC corporate member page (12 months).
  • One complimentary direct mail list (not email).
  • Access to the IBSC logo to use on your website or in publications.
  • IBSC member discount on conference registrations.
  • PDF of the IBSC Member Directory sent to you in September, to be used for information purposes only and not for solicitation.
  • Two online, individual IBSC memberships included in Corporate membership, offering access to cutting-edge IBSC Members-Only research and information on the IBSC website.

Membership Cycle

The IBSC fiscal year is from July 1- June 30. However, the Membership Fee Cycle is governed by the hemisphere in which the IBSC Member is located.

  • The Membership Fees Cycle for the Southern Hemisphere runs from 1 January to 30 December. Fees are collected in January/February of each year.
  • The Membership Fees Cycle for the Northern Hemisphere runs from 1 August to 30 July. Fees are collected in September of each year.
