Membership Dues

Founded in 1995, the International Boys' Schools Coalition is a not-for-profit organisation of schools dedicated to the education and development of boys worldwide, the professional growth of those who work with them, and the advocacy and advancement of institutions - primarily schools for boys - that serve them.

The roster of approximately 200 Regular Members includes many of the major independent and state boys' schools worldwide. Among the nations represented are: Australia, Canada, China, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The goal of the IBSC is to support, advance and celebrate boys' schools as learning environments uniquely focused on the achievement, engagement and well-being of boys in their care. Our schools are uniquely devoted to the mission of supporting boys in all facets of their growth and education. As such, the IBSC is a truly global "learning community" for educators in boys' schools, and for those committed to the education of boys everywhere.

Regular Membership in the International Boys' Schools Coalition is open to schools that are primarily for boys, have primary and/or secondary school classes, and meet the eligibility requirements established by the Board of Trustees.

Associate Membership is open to individuals, co-educational schools, associations or other organizations which wish to work with the Coalition for the achievement of its purposes.

Member Services

• Hosting an annual world conference
• Facilitating local conferences, workshops and events in all the global regions of the IBSC
• Facilitating visits and tours by prominent speakers about boys and boys' education
• Sharing of information about "best practices" and model programmes in boys' schools
• Coordinating  the Action Research in Boys' Schools Programme, in which teams of researchers from different member schools around the world engage in action research projects
• Facilitating teacher and student exchanges in the IBSC community
• Conducting research on teaching boys and the effectiveness of boys' schools, such as Teaching Boys: A Global Study of Effective Practice.
• Publication of electronic newsletters and alerts
• Support for and advocacy of research about the education and development of boys
• Publication of monographs on issues related to boys' development and boys' schools
• Providing information about employment opportunities at member schools
• Responding to inquiries from the media and families seeking information about boys' education and boys' schools.

School Membership Dues

• Schools charging tuition and enrolling more than 200 students pay annual dues of 12% of one day-student annual tuition. If a school has different tuitions at different grade levels, dues are based on the highest annual tuition. Schools charging tuition and enrolling less than 200 students should contact the IBSC office at for guidance about dues payment.  
• Schools not charging tuition pay annual dues of the equivalent of $150.00 U.S. The IBSC is committed to ensuring that public and state schools are able to participate as full members in the organisation.

Application for Membership

To submit an application for membership, please complete and submit the on-line Application Form. Your application will be reviewed; upon approval, we will be in contact with you to guide you through the final steps for dues payment and activation of your membership.
