Action Research in Boys' Schools
2010-11 Action Research Application
In February, 2005 the IBSC Board of Trustees launched Action
Research in Boys' Schools, an expression of our mission to promote the collaboration
of educators in member schools from around the world. Since then, four action research
teams have completed projects, and reported their findings at IBSC annual conferences
in South Africa, the United States, Canada and New Zealand . The reports of the
current team will be featured at the 17th annual conference in Philadelphia, June
27-30, 2010.
Research Topics for 2010-11
For the 2010-11 IBSC Action Research Project, there are three
research topics (click on topic question for detailed information):
(Click
here for an overview of all 3 Action Research topics.)
Educators in IBSC member schools who wish to apply for one of
these research groups are encouraged to discuss their interest with their Heads
of School, and then complete and submit the Application
below by October 30, 2009. Applicants must also ensure that Heads or their
designates complete and submit the Statement
of Support by October 30, 2009. Participants will be selected and
announced by November 30, 2009.
Expectations and Requirements
Financial Terms: It is required that the school fund all
travel, accommodation and conference registration costs associated with the teacher's
participation in the Action Research project. The IBSC will underwrite all
other expenses, including compensation of the Action Research Coordinator and specialist
consultants working with action research teams, and the publication of the report.
Financial Support: To ensure that the Action Research
programme is open to state or public schools, and to schools with limited professional
development resources, the sponsoring Head of School may request financial support
from the IBSC. A request for this financial support must be made on the Statement
of Support submitted by the Head of School.
