Strategic Plan

At the June 2019 IBSC board of trustees meeting in Montréal, Chair Tom Batty announced the board would embark on a one-year project to review and revise the organization’s strategic plan. He appointed Chris Post, IBSC secretary and trustee, to lead the effort.

At the heart of our work together, we strive to guide boys on the journey to manhood for lives of achievement and fulfillment, compassion and justice, and service and leadership. To enhance our efforts, the IBSC board of trustees developed a new strategic plan to give structure, direction, and accountability to all aspects of our work.

The IBSC board of trustees is pleased to share the 2020 IBSC Strategic Plan with our constituents. The board thoughtfully considered the needs of our membership and the future of our organization. Through this Strategic Plan, IBSC seeks to advance the mission of the organization, assisting our member schools and our related constituencies, most especially the boys we serve, in addressing and confronting the challenges of our times. We believe the work of boys’ schools has never been more important.

IBSC is uniquely positioned to help boys’ schools confront the challenges of our age with a spirit of optimism and a sense of opportunity. We believe IBSC can assist boys’ schools in articulating and enhancing the unique paths by which our institutions bring out the best humanness in boys, shaping a generation of boys and young men prepared and motivated to change the world.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has created global disruptions and impacted all of our institutions, schools are facing unprecedented times.

Around the world, communities are reflecting on inequities in the lives of people of color and the inherent value and dignity of each person.

Educators are working harder than ever to design a student experience that continues to support boys academically and in their social and emotional development. The Strategic Plan will guide IBSC in adapting to current challenges and supporting our schools, our colleagues, and our boys in facing and meeting these dynamic conditions. We look forward to our continued work together.
