Colleagues, With excitement and warm collegiality, I pen my first Compass welcome as executive director of your IBSC. In doing so, I thank Amy for her great work holding and progressing the post. In June, we finally reunited in person for the IBSC Annual Conference at St. Mark's School of Texas. Congratulations and thanks go to David Dini and all at St. Mark's for making the return such a vibrant shared-learning experience. Similar thanks and congratulations are due all action researchers, whose dedicated investigation and collaboration stimulate improvement in the lives of the boys and staff of our schools.
Our diversity is our strength and learning how best to connect and advance the rich talents of our members in service to the boys of our schools is the quest and privilege.
Whether amid the excitement of a new school year in the north or the lengthening days and graduation celebrations in the south, I thank you for your continued involvement in such cause and send my best wishes.
Tom Batty Executive Director, IBSC |

Why Sensitivity Is a Strength in Boys Elisse Gabriel Greater Good Magazine "It's time to shift the paradigm about sensitivity in boys and recognize how it improves their relationships and supports their well-being." |
| | How men can save relationships by learning to be vulnerable Andrew Reiner The Washington Post "For a number of reasons — many rooted in socialized norms about masculinity — men are often taught very young to diminish, or even ignore, their emotions in relationships. They do this, however, at the expense of their relationships' health and their own well-being. When men learn to better understand their emotional needs, the payoff can be profound." |

IBSC Member Story: Knox Grammar School Year 2 Cardboard Arcade Game |
|
|
Students in Year 2 at Knox Grammar School (Australia) have designed and built cardboard arcade games and used Micro:Bits to create score counters. In addition, they are using the FIDS framework (Feel Imagine Do Share) to modify their design and make it inclusive for people in society that may have an impairment or disability. They followed the FIDS process to help them empathize and understand that there are people in our community who do not have the ease of accessing the everyday things many of us take for granted. Watch now. |
