The 2027 IBSC Annual Conference hosted by The Scots College in Sydney also offers an optional three-day, bespoke event before the conference—The Glengarry Experience!

Limited to 100 attendees and partners, this intimate program showcases Scots’ experiential learning campuses and provides authentic encounters with Australian wildlife in breathtaking natural landscapes. You will also be part of a temporary community that forms bonds through shared experiences even before the main conference begins. You can choose your level of accommodation:

  • B&B: Stay at a bed and breakfast and participate in relaxed outdoor activities.
  • Dorm: Stay in a student dormitory and engage in outdoor activities with some challenge.
  • Tent: Camp in a tent and actively participate in more intense outdoor activities.

The Glengarry Experiences will include options such as:

  • Transportation from Sydney to Glengarry Campus
  • An Indigenous “welcome to country” ceremony
  • A student tour of the Glengarry campus
  • The Tough Mudder obstacle course
  • Native wombats and rock wallabies in their natural environment
  • Campfire yarning circles where we share authentically as a community
  • Southern Hemisphere stargazing and an astronomy session
  • A typical outdoor curricular lesson
  • Rite of Passage session
  • A student tour of the Bannockburn campus
  • Regenerative agriculture session
  • Night walk in the Bannockburn wildlife sanctuary, spotting endangered native animals
  • Short or long hike along the Coast Walk, possibly sighting dolphins or whales
  • Tall ship cruise from the Coast Walk up the coastline and into Sydney Harbour (or minibus transport for those who are prone to seasickness)
  • Celebration dinner and reflections at a harborside restaurant in Sydney
