2021 IBSC Africa Regional Conference

IBSC Southern Africa Conference

March 10 – 11, 2022
Rondebosch Boys’ Schools
Cape Town, South Africa

The Elephant in the Room

Please note the new dates.

Join us for the 2022 IBSC African Regional Conference at Rondebosch Boys’ High School (South Africa), aimed at boys’ school heads and educators (preparatory and high school).

Explore frequently avoided topics associated with private and former Model C schools. Address issues around racism, sexuality, masculinity, gender equality, hair, and many more. Take this opportunity to ignite honest conversations about tough topics and share ideas on how to tackle them. The idiom "the elephant in the room" describes an obvious, important topic that people avoid discussing because it makes some feel uncomfortable or is personally, socially, or politically controversial.

This conference caters to all age divisions and benefits school leaders and teachers alike.

A Message from Our Hosts

July 12, 2021

Dear IBSC delegates, members, service providers, and sponsors,

We are very sad to have to inform you that given the present COVID-19 numbers and the president's most recent announcement and ongoing prohibitive regulations, we have been forced to make the decision to postpone the August conference until March next year.

We have held out until the last possible minute in the hope that the situation would change and we hope that having done so has not inconvenienced you too much.

We feel that moving the date to next year will allow the present vaccine effort to take a profound hold and believe that we will be able to get together without any further restrictions.

We hope to be able to bring you much of the same programme and we anticipate that there may be some new hot topics to add. We look forward to finally hosting and seeing you at Rondebosch in 2022.

Yours faithfully,
