Professional Conversations for Admissions and Communications Professionals in Boys’ Schools in North America

IBSC Ideas Lab invites admissions and communications professionals in member schools to connect virtually using the free online tool Zoom. Limited to 12 participants plus the facilitator, this IBSC Ideas Lab includes three one-hour sessions for participants to discuss relevant topics. 

Designed as an interactive exchange among colleagues, IBSC Ideas Lab engages dedicated educators who learn and grow together. Before each session, participants watch a 10-minute introduction from a global guest to jumpstart a facilitated conversation on the topic. Together we surface fresh ideas and build mutual support structures and enduring professional friendships.

Available exclusively to IBSC member schools, first-time participants who can commit to joining all three sessions get preference in registration to support the success of each small group.

Who Should Attend?

Directors of admissions and communications in North American boys’ schools; assistant or associate directors of admissions and communications in North American boys’ schools are also welcome to attend.

Format

IBSC Ideas Lab attendees participate in three scheduled one-hour calls using Zoom. Janet Lien, assistant head of school and director of enrollment at The Browning School (United States), and Jacob Geiger, director of strategic communications at Woodberry Forest School (United States), facilitate each session with thought-provoking input from guest presenters who contextualize each topic.

How do you share the story of a boys’ school? When the value of single-gender education is under scrutiny, how do you advocate for all-boys schools? What strategies do you have in place to clearly communicate your school’s approach to all-boys education?

The State of the Market
Monday, May 1, 4:00 PM EDT

How do you approach an understanding of the market for your school? Each IBSC member school operates in a unique national and local context that shapes recruiting efforts. What are the local challenges and opportunities facing enrollment in boys’ schools and how can we respond?

Conversation 3
Strategies for Success
Monday, May 8, 4:00 PM EDT

Join admissions and communications colleagues to share tried and tested marketing and outreach strategies for success. What specific tactics have worked well for our schools? What lessons have we learned when things haven’t always gone well?

Refund Policy

IBSC will refund 90% of registration fees if a written request is received two weeks prior to the class. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this time. Schools seeking to register an alternate to replace a participant unable to attend should contact IBSC@theibsc.org.
