Participate in two scheduled 60-minute interactive sessions using Zoom. Salakas and Kang facilitate sessions with thought-provoking presentations and a Q&A session with attendees.

Refund Policy
IBSC will refund 90% of registration fees if a written request is received two weeks prior to the class. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this time. Schools seeking to register an alternate to replace a participant unable to attend should contact IBSC@theibsc.org.

Brett Salakas
HP Education Ambassador Brett Salakas is an international keynote speaker, author, founder of #aussieED (the largest online network of teachers in Australia), and co-founder of both the ED Poets Society and #TheWalkingED.
With his unique experience, Salakas blends innovation, curriculum insight, and passion to deliver results that sets him apart. His reputation for innovation in the education industry is truly global. Salakas has delivered the keynote address at multiple international conferences in Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America and has run professional learning for schools and systems in Australia and North America.
Salakas has leadership experience within the public, Catholic, and Independent school systems and served as a curriculum and digital technologies officer while teaching in Singapore. Couple that with the rare experience of having taught from kindergarten to year 10 and Salakas brings a blend of deep pedagogical awareness and flexibility that allows him to rapidly adapt to and understand complex educational contexts. Passionately committed to turning educational theory into real classroom practice, he is all about connection, collaboration, and inspiration!
Shimi Kang
Dr. Shimi Kang, an expert in neuroscience and medicine with over 20 years of experience, is dedicated to improving mental health through research-based methods. She emphasizes the resilience and strength of humans, advocating for brain-focused self-development. Kang is the founder of Dolphin Kids: Future-Ready Leaders, CEO of Spark, and host of the YouTube show Mental Wealth. She entered medical school at 19 and expanded her expertise in neuroscience, contributing to organizations like the World Health Organization and Harvard University.
A prolific author, Kang has written bestsellers like The Dolphin Parent and The Self-Motivated Kid, and her newest title, The Tech Solution: Creating Healthy Habits for Kids Growing up in a Digital World. A TEDx speaker with millions of views, she frequently contributes to major media outlets and is a contracted expert for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Formerly the medical director for child and youth mental health in Vancouver, Kang has also founded several mental health initiatives. She's a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia, researching and teaching about motivation, mental health, and addictions.
Kang's work has earned her numerous awards, including the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. She values her role as a mother of three alongside her professional achievements.
