IBSC Teachers New to Boys' Schools Conference

Learn and explore best practices in boys' education from experienced teachers and administrators. Designed for teachers in their first two years of work at a boys’ school, this conference provides teachers in all grade levels and disciplines the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with peers, delve into topical issues including relational teaching, social development, and student advising, and visit classes at Roxbury Latin and other Boston area schools to observe many of the theoretical concepts in action.

The conference brings together both professionals new to boys’ schools and seasoned colleagues to share best practices and facilitate discussions intended to strengthen all participants’ contributions to their schools and pedagogical approaches that work especially well for boys. Teachers of boys of all ages, grades, and disciplines benefit from this fruitful dialogue addressing the principal developmental distinctions of boys at every age. Return to school better informed about your students and equipped with essential techniques and approaches.

  • IBSC member rate: $350
  • Nonmember rate: $450

    • Cancellation Policy

    IBSC will refund 90% of registration fees if a written request is received four weeks prior to the start of the conference (September 27) and 50% if a written request is received 2 weeks prior to the conference (October 11). No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this time. Schools wishing to register an alternate to replace a conference delegate unable to attend should contact IBSC@theibsc.org.

    Schedule

    The conference begins at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, and concludes at noon on Saturday, October 27. The full schedule can be found here.

    Bus transportation provided between the Fairfield Inn and The Roxbury Latin School. Shuttle buses depart the hotel at 3:30 PM Thursday, 7:30 AM Friday, and 8:00 AM Saturday. Please look for the white Roxbury Latin mini-buses outside the front entrance of the hotel.

    If driving to the conference, please park in the lower parking lots (see Roxbury Latin Campus Map). Watch for signage for the event.
