Friday,
23 June
Arrival, check-in, group dinner
Saturday,
24 June
Trip to Washington, DC: To provide a broad overview to jump start the conference, students will tour the U.S. Capitol and visit Smithsonian museums, including the brand new National Museum of African American History & Culture.
Sunday,
25 June
Trip to the Chesapeake Bay: To focus on the environment, students will visit the Chesapeake Bay to learn about important issues facing the region's environment and wildlife. The trip will include activities both in the water and on land. At 200 miles long, and with a total shoreline larger than the U.S. west coast, the Chesapeake Bay is a vital part of the region's economy and ecology.
Monday,
26 June
Trip into Baltimore: To focus on the social issues facing Baltimore, students will gather different perspectives from city government, community groups, and local businesses about how to solve the current problems. In addition to meeting with local community groups and city council members, students may visit Lexington Market or enjoy downtime in Patterson Park or Federal Hill.
Tuesday,
27 June
Student delegates will stay on campus to work on action plans for students’ own communities. To offer extra inspiration, we may invite a guest speaker.
Wednesday, 28 JuneStudents will present action plans, wrap-up, and depart.
