  • Creativity through Digital Technologies (2012-13)

This paper explores the use of Minecraft to enhance students’ creativity, which was assessed through observable creative behaviours such as: exploring ideas and keeping options open; reflecting critically on ideas, actions and outcomes; and envisaging what might be. The research was conducted with six boys from Montfort Secondary, Singapore, who worked together over four weeks on a performance task using Minecraft. Data collection consisted of self-reporting, student reflection and an exit interview. The findings suggest that Minecraft enhanced student creativity and also promoted perseverance and effective teamwork.
