Adaptability: The Impact Of Teaching Critical Thinking Skills To A Mixed Ability Group Of Grade 9 Boys

The overt teaching of critical thinking skills to boys in a Grade 9 mixed-ability English class enhanced a sense of agency in their social environment, developed their argumentative skills during essay writing, and gave some boys the metacognitive language to discuss their own academic journey. Using an action research approach, we taught critical thinking through evocative and current practical examples and exercises, and traditional teaching methods.
