This paper examines the impact of introducing visible thinking routines on the development of flexible thinking for Grade 12 Mathematics students. The goal was to determine if there would be a measurable difference in students’ ability to think critically, take academic risk, challenge their thoughts, know what they are learning and have learned, and make a personal connection with their learning, thus improving their overall metacognitive abilities.
