Inquiry-Based Learning : A Vehicle for Engaging Boys in the Research Process

This action research project sought to examine how using inquiry-based learning (IBL) to investigate a student-chosen problem could help boys engage with the research process. Eighteen Year 9 boys selected from an Information Literacy class, had the opportunity to take ownership of their learning through independent research. Data were collected through student interviews, questionnaires, journals, and teacher observation.
