Student-Driven Projects: A Path to Boys’ Environmental Literacy

There are many environmental issues facing my community that are particularly relevant to the students I teach. Knowing that the most powerful tool we have in mitigating the environmental issues we now face is education, I wanted to provide my students with the necessary skills to address these local issues. I wondered how student agency might affect this objective. Consequently, I developed an action research project to determine how a student-driven environmental project based on socio-scientific issues would impact environmental literacy in my students.
