COVID-19 Update on the IBSC Annual Conference, April 3, 2020
COVID-19 Update on the IBSC Annual Conference, April 3, 2020

After careful consideration of the ongoing pandemic spread of COVID-19 globally, the International Boys' Schools Coalition is postponing the 2020 IBSC Annual Conference previously scheduled at Viaró Global School (Spain) in July. The new dates will be July 7-10, 2021, at Viaró Global School. The details about the hotel will be updated and posted online as soon as possible.

The IBSC board of trustees, staff, and the planning team at Viaró carefully evaluated every option available and finally reached the difficult decision to postpone the gathering to protect the health and well-being of our entire community. Your safety is our top priority.

We thank Viaró Global School for being an excellent host and partner. All of us gratefully recognize the incredible amount of work and planning the Viaró community has undertaken to benefit boys' educators worldwide and the boys they serve. IBSC will automatically transfer your registration and fees for the postponed 2020 IBSC Annual Conference to the conference now scheduled in July 2021. If you'd prefer a refund, please contact and we will cancel your conference registration and refund your payment, minus a $50 processing fee.

You are responsible for cancelling your travel plans, including any airline and hotel reservations. Please make sure to contact your hotel directly to cancel your upcoming reservation and contact the airline directly to cancel your flight. Airline policies for dealing with existing reservations, cancellations, and change fees during the COVID-19 pandemic differ by carrier. Your hotel reservations will NOT automatically roll over.

Amid the uncertainty, it is clear that we will grow stronger together over the weeks and months ahead. To keep our community connected, we invite all IBSC members to engage with each other in our new IBSC Community in a Time of Distance 2020 e-list to share ideas, compassion, and friendship in this unprecedented era. Take this opportunity to let colleagues know what's working at your school or ask for tips on how others are handling similar challenges and changes. We'd like to hear your happy stories as well!

Please contact with any questions. In the meantime, please do everything you can to remain healthy. We will continue to keep you informed. Above all, we want you to be safe and feel confident that we have your best interests at heart—even if our hearts are heavy today.

We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona in July 2021.
