Mentors
In addition, the head of school must supply the name and email of a senior staff member willing to act as a mentor for the researcher. This role is critical to the success of the researcher. The mentor ensures that all submissions and the final report are formally edited and correctly referenced ahead of publication. The mentor will receive details of the research timetable, access to the action research team website, and receive regular updates on the researcher progress. This person acts as a critical friend in the planning, implementation, and presentation of the project, and meets regularly with the researcher to provide any assistance or feedback needed. During the course of the research cycle, mentors will submit two brief status reports to team advisors in order to share their researcher’s progress. For a detailed overview of the mentor position, please read The Role of the Mentor (PDF).
